The assessment is based on unit standards 17284, 17285, 17286, 17287 and 17288.
The assessment is made up of three sections: an assignment, a closed-book written assessment and practical observations. For each of the practical components you must be observed making coffees competently on at least two separate occasions.
To sit your assessment, you will need to:
- contact an assessor and arrange a time for your assessment
- bring your assessment voucher
- bring a copy of your signed enrolment form
- bring a certified copy of an approved form of identification
The approved forms of identification are as follows:
- a birth certificate with the place of birth stated as New Zealand, the Cook Islands, Tokelau or Niue
- a current New Zealand passport
- a current overseas passport with a residency stamp
- a certificate of citizenship
We also require a certified copy of your marriage certificate if your current name is different from that on your birth certificate.
Please note that 'certified' means a photocopy of the original document signed by a Justice of the Peace (JP) or a solicitor as being a true and accurate copy. You can find a list of Justices of the Peace in the Yellow pages of the telephone book.
